MHRD Published 2017 NIRF India Ranking for Quality Higher Education

Our Correspondent: As in the previous year, the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) took the overall responsibility to be the Ranking Agency on behalf of The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) for survey of academic Institutions and Universities in India based on various parameters.
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was approved by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India and launched by Honorable Minister of Human Resource Development on 29th September 2015.

This framework outlines a methodology to rank institutions across the country. The methodology draws from the overall recommendations & broad understanding arrived at by a Core Committee set up by MHRD, to identify the broad parameters for ranking various Universities and Institutions.

The parameters broadly cover 'Teaching, Learning and Resources (TLR)', 'Research and Professional Practices (RP)', 'Graduation Outcomes (GO)', 'Outreach and Inclusivity (OI)' and 'Perception (PR)'.

Since there are many private survey teams and reputed organizations like: Careers360, Times of India, Deccan Chronicle, The Indian Express Ranking, India Today – Nielsen Survey, Day On My Plate Career Survey, BRICS Rankings, Times Higher Education World Ranking, India Education, etc. has published their survey of India’s top 50 Engineering Colleges and Universities like every year, therefore each of individual survey slightly differ among them.

Keeping this in mind and also to follow a standard survey framework provided by MHRD, Govt. of India first released the NIRF India Rankings - 2016 on 4th April 2016. For this year, the main ranking parameters remain the same. However, there are a few significant changes in a few sub-parameters.
